Disney has unveiled the name and first images from the fifth Disney Cruise Line ship. The Disney Wish is scheduled for delivery in late 2021, where it will join its sister vessels Disney Magic, Disney Dream, Disney Wonder and Disney Fantasy.

The first rendering provided to D23 attendees was of the Disney Wish atrium. The atriums are a focal point of Disney Cruise Line’s interior design, embodying the spirit of the design and the sort of Disney enchantment guests can expect to find on board. Each atrium contains a statue celebrating a classic Disney character: Disney Fantasy is graced by a vintage Mademoiselle Minnie Mouse, Disney Dream sports Admiral Donald, Disney Magic contains Helmsmen Mickey and Ariel perches by the stairs in Disney Wonder.

The rendering of Disney Wish’s atrium hasn’t given away the identity of the new atrium statue but there is plenty of detail to speculate about. The airy three-story design is ringed by delicately wrought gold balconies and carpeted in a deep royal blue. The atrium is adorned with a dripping gold chandelier. While Disney Magic and Disney Dream are outfitted in a bold art deco style and Disney Wonder and Disney Fantasy are clad in flowing art nouveau-inspired designs, Disney have announced Disney Wish to be ‘inspired by the beauty of an enchanted fairytale’.

As a company with meticulous attention to detail when it comes to conveying their brand through design, Disney cruise interior designs are always one to watch. There is no word yet on whether the two remaining, as-yet unnamed, cruise ships to be added to the Disney fleet will share a design inspiration with Disney Wish.

Disney Wish and the two upcoming cruise ships will be delivered by German shipbuilder Meyer Werft, bringing the Disney fleet to seven cruise ships. Disney have continued their contract with Meyer Werft after the shipbuilder delivered Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy. We are delighted to welcome a large contingent from Meyer Werft to the only event dedicated to cruise ship interiors in Europe, Cruise Ship Interiors Expo Europe.
