Award-winning design…

It’s been a gala 2019 for SMC Design, having taken home ‘Marine Interior Designer of the Year’ at the 2019 Seatrade Cruise Awards for their work on Saga’s Spirit of Discovery. SMC’s work across Spirit of Discovery was extensive, ranging from interior concepts for public and crew areas to the exterior styling of the vessel. It doesn’t end there for SMC, with their work on Spirit of Discovery shortlisted for The International Design & Architecture Awards 2019, category ‘Bespoke Cabinetry/Installation’, their work on Spirit of Discovery and Viking Orion shortlisted for the AHEAD Awards 2019, category ‘Transport’ (winners not yet announced) and ranking as finalists for SBID International Design Awards 2019, category ‘Restaurant Design’. Phew! That’s a lot of well-deserved recognition!

Innovation…

Shores Global launched their groundbreaking eco-friendly chair, the Ocean Chair, at Cruise Ship Interiors Expo America in June of this year. Comprised of recycled fishing nets, rope, and plastic waste, all collected from the sea, the Ocean Chair (and soon-to-come Ocean Collection) is also designed for disassembly, meaning each component of the product can be recycled into its purest form and then reintroduced into new production circles. Shores Global, located in Miami and Denmark, say that they have salt water in their veins and they certainly take that seriously with their guardianship of our environment.

If you’d like to learn more about the upcoming Ocean Collection and Shores Global’s other cruise-ready products, visit them on Stand 414.

The Market Place on board Marella Explorer 2

Trimline took their partnership with Marella Cruises to the next level with the recent transformation of Golden Era into Marella Explorer 2. The project was the equivalent of four refits in one for Trimline, who was responsible for the majority of the public spaces on board. They employed onboard and quayside logistics managers together with 300 tradespeople, all working together to deliver Trimline’s trademark high-quality finish. The work paid off for Trimline, with Nick Hughes, Head of Technical Operations at Marella Cruises saying, “We are delighted with the results of this project.”

If you would like to work with Trimline on future projects visit them on Stand 418.
