Seabourn launched its first expedition ship in July with Seabourn Venture. This innovative vessel has been built to transport its guests to the world’s most remote locations, from across the Arctic Ocean down to Antarctica. In this article, we will dive into the adventurous interiors of this fit-for-purpose exploration vessel.

Passengers have plenty of opportunities to awaken their senses in the elegant and stunning designs on board Seabourn Venture. Designed by Seabourn partner and iconic hospitality interiors atelier, Tihany Design, Seabourn Venture’s spaces each capture the thrill of discovery and exploration, while reflecting the vessel’s daring destinations. The vessel also boasts a bespoke custom furniture line provided by Tihany Design.

Inspired designs

Each public space on board Seabourn Venture shapes its own narrative while taking inspiration from the natural world. This allows passengers to truly connect with the environment. Serving as the focal point for the ship is the Atrium. This space connects all stateroom decks via an elegant staircase. This sky-lit space is decked out in wood and metal finishes. It boasts details including rope work and a topography-inspired liquid metal wall treatment. Additionally, the diamond-shape floor pattern and suspended light fixture emulates traditional instruments used to measure wind.

At the heart of this vessel is the Expedition Lounge. Here, passengers can step in from Artic expeditions to warm up by two fireplaces that produce lifelike water vapour “flames”. A glass partition etched with a vintage map and a full bar together evoke a cosy and enchanting environment for swapping stories of the day’s adventures. The lounge’s design pays homage to early explorers, featuring bespoke furniture from wood, wool, leather, and fur. These were crafted using traditional tools and instruments.

Out of this world designs

Seabourn Venture’s other unique lounge is the Constellation Lounge. The lounge’s striking interior boasts 270-degree views as far as the eyes can see. As the ship’s highest viewing point, the Constellation Lounge takes guests beyond the stars, with an interior that plays homage to the night sky. The lounge is adorned with a dark blue and red palette accented by silver and bronze metals set against a dark carpet laid out with bright constellation patterns. Here, passengers can watch the stunning views whilst relaxing in bespoke velvet banquettes and sling-back chairs beneath starlight-inspired lights.

Learning and discoveries abound

With learning being at the heart of expedition cruising, Seabourn Venture boasts a well-equipped classroom, the Discovery Centre. Here, passengers have a unique opportunity to become enriched with natural history and cultural programming. An Antarctic-inspired interior serves as a backdrop for an immersive learning experience, featuring a natural colour palette and topography maps set before a large screen for lectures and video experiences. The ship also offers two custom-built submarines, double sea kayaks as well as 24 Zodiacs that can accommodate all guests at once.

After a long day of adventuring, guests can visit the vessel’s spa, which transports them to a “floating forest”. With a tree-inspired textured art mural, light wood and bronze material palette, and live wood features, this space is designed with relaxation in mind.

Adventurous dining

On Seabourn Venture, even the dining spaces continue to immerse passengers in the expedition experience and far-reached destinations. The ship’s main restaurant merges bold lines and shapes with softness reminiscent of falling snow. To further create the illusion of fresh snow, the walls feature bevelled cut glass, making the room shimmer, while the ceiling, an abstract chandelier, creates an illusion of ice and snowflakes. The Restaurant also features bespoke leather dining chairs produced by renowned Italian furniture manufacturer Roda. The Colonnade dining space provides a more casual dining space, taking inspiration from historic maritime design. Here, guests are treated to an immersive space featuring a ceiling of riveted curved wood panels evoking the feel of a wooden hull of an early expedition ship, art displays of intricate nautical knots, and buffet stations set beneath a sleek copper ceiling for the feeling of a working kitchen.

With community being an integral part of the expedition cruising experience, Tihany Design curated a dedicated space on board Seabourn Venture for encouraging community, Seabourn Square. Here, passengers can gather at the intimate meeting spaces decorated with lounge chairs, watch the night skies with a Swarovski telescope, or grab a snack underneath an overlapping circular patterned ceiling that pays homage to the composition of a compass.

Fit-for-purpose staterooms

Seabourn Venture boasts 132 all veranda, all ocean-front suites. These all feature thoughtfully crafted furniture, sustainable materials and bespoke details that capture the timeless luxury of travel. Each suite contains parchment-inspired wall panels finished with digitally printed wall laminate material and curvilinear arch design elements that reflect bygone maritime craftsmanship. Passengers can also make use of custom bedside panels featuring toggle switches, an analogue clock, and a foldaway reading lamp. The suites also contain built-in heated jacket wardrobes for drying wet outdoor jackets after a day of adventures.

The grand two-storey Wintergarden Suite provides the ultimate luxury getaway for families travelling on board Seabourn Venture. This opulent suite provides two levels of beautiful views. Passengers can also make use of the Swarovski ATX Interior spotting scope, perfect for making new discoveries! The Wintergarden Suite features a generous lower living area with a dining table for four, a separate guest bath, and a pantry with a wet bar stocked with a customized selection of spirits. A sculptured staircase leading to the upper level takes guests to the master bedroom. Here, passengers can relax in a queen-sized Duxiana Axion 15 adjustable high-performance sleep system positioned to face expansive windows. The upper level also features an expansive wall of closets. Guests can also enjoy a five-piece bathroom complete with a whirlpool spa tub and separate shower.
