DAVID MCCARTHY
Sr. Director, Newbuilding Owner Supply & Logistics | Independent Maritime Advisors
With over 25 years’ experience in the cruise and hospitality industry, David has held roles at Executive level, both operationally, as well as in vessel design and delivery for newbuild & revitalisation projects. He has become a respected voice within the marine sector, who actively promotes engagement and collaboration at every opportunity. Following a 14-year sea-going career with P&O Cruises, he took up various land-based roles, serving the Carnival UK brands. A notable project being P&O Cruises current flagship, Britannia where he is proud to have been presented to Her Majesty the Queen, for his part in being responsible for the entire hotel operational design and delivery.
Now at AD Associates for close to 4 years’ David has been instrumental in the growth of the award-winning business and is responsible for CRM, Marine Business Development, as well as supporting their talented studio with marine operational and regulatory compliance.

Andy has over 25 years' experience in design and has worked internationally on many large-scale leisure developments. His continued drive and enthusiasm for innovative relevant design keeps SMC fresh, dynamic, and relevant. Passionate about good design, he is adept at combining years of experience with innovative and new thinking to produce unique and challenging creative solutions for clients. Andy believes that SMC’s success is down to its people and their approach to design, both of which continue to strengthen the company and benefit clients around the world.


ANNE MARI GULLIKSTAD
CEO and Senior Architect | YSA Design
Anne Mari Gullikstad is the Chief Executive Office of YSA Design, where she is also Partner and a Senior Interior Architect. YSA Design is based in Oslo, Norway and has specialised in designing cruise ships, small ships and river cruise vessels since 1985. She draws on over 26 years of experience with to head the company's management team, also fulfilling the role of project leader in key YSA Design assignments.
With an Honours Degree and Diploma in Fine Arts from the California College of the Arts & Crafts, Anne Mari brings a fresh and original approach to her architectural work, in which she has been certified to practice since 1993. As an interior architect and designer, her landmark projects have included some of the best-known cruise ships in the world, including Oriana (P&O Cruises), Disney Magic, Wonder, Dream & Fantasy, Silver Cloud and Wind, and the Seven Cruises ships Mariner and Voyager Radisson. She has also worked on a series of ships for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines.
As project leader (and interior designer), Anne Mari also oversees and manages some of YSA Design's most prestigious work, including assignments for Disney Cruise Line and SeaDream. She is currently leading YSA Design's extensive conversion project for the Costa Cruise ships Costa Venezia and Toscana.


JUHA RISTA
Interiors Architect & Partner | dSign Vertti Kivi & Co
Juha Rista has been working as an interior designer in dSign since June 2006 and since 2014 he has also been one of the three partners of the company. Juha always aims at finding new ideas and ways how to approach an ordinary design task, as that it the only way how to come up with something new. Juha has specialized in various office design projects and has used to work with numerous multinational corporations. He currently heads up the Future Way of Working program at dSign with experience of 20 years.

Responsible Cabin Design
Designing cabins with environmental, economic and social impacts in mind is particularly important as any waste reduction or carbon savings made can have a much bigger impact when multiplied by the number of cabins which are delivered. This session highlights some approaches to responsible cabin design as informed by recent trials.

Callie is the Founding Partner and Creative director of Volume Creative, a female-owned and led, multidisciplinary design studio in the UK. She is an agent of change and a powerful ally for sustainable design innovation within the industry. Callie and her partners have recently launched a new service, called Spared. Spared supports brands by providing bespoke solutions for their waste/by-product in the form of new surface materials, art, furniture and objects.

ANA QUINTAS
Lead Built Environment EMEA | Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute
Ana is experienced sustainability and circular economy professional passionate about advancing circular economy, climate action and sustainable development in the built environment.
As Lead Built Environment for the EMEA region, at the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute, Ana is responsible for outreach, education, policy development and adoption of C2C Certified with product manufacturers and the wider built environment stakeholder community. Her prior work experience also includes project management, consulting advice and research in areas ranging from the circular economy, resources efficiency, waste management, strategic environmental planning and environmental impact assessment.
Ana also serves as a Program leader for the executive education online course at Cambridge Judge Business school ‘Circular economy and Sustainable Strategies’.
Ana holds a postgraduate diploma in Circular Economy from the University of Exeter Business School, a Master of Engineering in Resources Efficiency and a Master of Science degree in Environmental Engineering. She is also a chartered environmentalist of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment in the UK and a recognized European Professional Engineer.


GIJS STREPPEL
Programme Manager Sustainability | Meyer Werft Gmbh & Co. KG.
Gijs Streppel started his career at MEYER WERFT in 2004 as a naval architect in the Sales and Design Department. As a project engineer, he has played an active role in the development of, for example, the Disney Dream and the Quantum Class project for RCL.
Between 2014 and 2018, he acted as Head of Design within the Sales and Design Department, overseeing e.g. the contract phase of the latest projects for Aida and Saga.
Since early 2018, he has been awarded the position of Head of Ship Theory within the Sales and Design Department. As such he was involved in the development of the Silversea Evolution Class of vessels.
In 2021 his focus shifted mainly to the strategic development of sustainability topics as the senior sustainability engineer of the Meyer Group.
Gijs Streppel (40) grew up in the Netherlands and studied naval architecture at the Technical University of Delft.


MY NGUYEN
Director of Interior Design | Holland America Group
My is the Director of Interior Design for HA Group and leads the design department overseeing three prominent cruise brands: Holland America Line, Princess Cruise Line and Seabourn. My’s design experience is diversified across Refurbishment and Newbuild. As a globally recognized thought leader, My’s repertoire of achievements span both land and sea. She is known for her internationally acclaimed award-winning designs as well as being a public speaker on topics close to her heart such as Sustainability and Leadership.
On the topic of inspiration, My says, “inspiration to me is not a noun. It’s more of a mindset. I’m as inspired seeing the colors of leaves while walking in my neighbourhood as I am looking at fashion in different cities that I visit around the world. The key is to always keep your eyes open and not have tunnel vision. That mindset assures you will always feel inspired”.

100 Ways to Blow the Budget (And Some Simple Alternatives)
As budgets receive perhaps more scrutiny than ever before, it becomes critical that the design process is as efficient as possible. Late changes to the GA, delays in procurement, and the absence of key decision-makers at the right time can all have dire impacts on the budget. This session examines the entire design process, from initial concept through to on-site delivery. It’s a team effort, involving partners who each have an impact on the project’s success. NICK FARRELL
Owner | Trimline
Nick took ownership of Trimline in early 2021, along with the existing COO Ross Welham. He has a strong track history of the building and developing companies in the marine technology industry, and is now looking to bring his skills to bear on the marine interior refit space.
Having provided technology and global event support for trans-ocean yacht races, desert car rallies and Arctic husky adventures, he is no stranger to the logistical issues of getting people and materials to far-flung places with tricky time constraints.
Since September 2020, he has been working with Trimline to further develop their services, with technology, integrity & superb customer service at the heart. With Nick's varied background in software engineering, product design, project management & finance he is looking forward to meeting everyone at CSIE this year, and discussing how Trimline (and the industry as a whole) can grow and develop over the next few years.

Spotlight on Smaller Ships: Interior Design on Expedition Vessels
One of the key imperatives for expedition vessel interiors is to have in mind the sense of adventure which expedition cruise guests are looking for. This session explores the ways in which design can support this new type of experience.

Anu started to work with larger hospitality and marine projects after she was hired by Pia Litokorpi, owner and CEO of Kudos Dsign.
With the position as a senior interior designer and project manager at Kudos Dsign she has worked internationally with variety of brands for marine, hospitality and residential projects.

George Scammell is Director, Interior Asset Management - Technical Operations for Princess Cruises. A global hospitality design leader, George has extensive experience in the hospitality, cruise, and leisure entertainment industry. Leadership positions include VP of Global Design for Wyndham Worldwide, Principal for CORE architects, VP of Design for ForrestPerkins, and Design Management for Walt Disney World Resorts. George earned his bachelor’s degree in Interior Design from Florida State University, is a licensed Interior Designer, and a Professional Member of both the American Society of Interior Designers, and the International Interior Design Association.

CHRISTINA BUDD
Senior Interior Architect | Carnival UK
After many years delivering fast-paced fashion retail projects globally for brands such as Arcadia, Kurt Geiger, and Harrods. Christina joined Carnival UK as part of the P&O Iona hotel design team in 2017. She is currently working on Cunard’s fourth ship.
Christina also spent a short stint of her career designing luxury care homes and retirement communities.
Christina is a passionate designer and proud to be part of the Carnival brand.


DAMIEN MORGAN
Contracts Director | MJM Group
Damien started out as a drawing office technician in equipment engineering before progressing to drawing office manager overseeing change from draughting boards to CAD. He then became involved in final project delivery for both land and marine-based projects.
He joined MJM Marine to project manage the specialist joinery projects in the commercial and hospitality sector in Ireland using his strong interpersonal skills to develop long-standing client relationships. Damien assisted with the growth into the UK marketplace with the successful delivery of many one off-key projects and also brand rollouts.
With his practical design-based knowledge, Damien brought in systematic processes to help streamline project delivery, led out game-changing projects and was subsequently promoted to Contracts Director responsible for planning, procurement, logistics, stores and labour sourcing for MJM’s Marine projects.
